This Video was from 2015, which is the Last Royal Guards Parade in the Reign of King Rama IX because he passed away next year on 13th October. Just before the day that the parade will take place every year, 3rd December. And we never have the Royal guards Parade again. But this year is the current King Rama X's 6th Round Birthday (72 Years Old) and the Parade of the Guards which we haven't seen for almost a decade will take place this year 3rd December again. I recommend you to watch thaat one too because today's Thai Military Drill is a lot better than 9 years ago. Also, Soldiers in Black Uniforms and white Caps are The Regiment of Naval Cadets of the guards, not the Marines. And the Regiment with Sky Blue tunic and dark blue Trousers with gold small strives, the one you said that you really like the Uniform is the Regiment of Air Cadets of the Guards. And fore sure, the Regiment of Army Cadets of the Guards do exist, It's the First Colour Party at 5:42

Thailand marching and drills are mixed between many styles of many Western countries, but mainly based on the Prussian style of goosesteping and drills after establishing the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA). The academy was founded in 1887 based on the model of Prussian military schools But after WW2 ended the US military has heavily influenced the Thai military especially in 1951, the future Prime Minister Sarit Thanarat reformed the curriculum along the lines of the United States Military Academy at West Point. This was part of an “Americanization” of the army. This included american style marching, which practices in non ceremonial time

Different areas for the changing of the guard, but still special

Regarding Thailand's full dress headgear of Guards units in full dress as the watcher of Thai ceremonial - these are pith helmets with plumes coloured in the uniformed facings of the units that use them. Only the Navy proper officers only and its midshipmen wear the peaked cap, as well as petty officers, sailor caps of British/French design are worn only by those of fleet personnel and other formations in full dress minus Marines. Non-Guards units wear peaked cap or combat helmet. The band doesn't walk in goose-step is because it is hard to play the instruments, but they do march when not playing in parades. The goose-step and cheaters are standard regulation drill for all the Armed Forces. The ensign isn't using the sling because its more of a symbolic for telling you're in the color team. They don't use the sling because it's more of a British drill and doesn't work well with goose-stepping I believe or Thais don't really have a good relation with Britain not long ago haha. The officer at the back of the ensign is the commander of the team, the wheel for the colors is made for the ensign to be center and the member rotates around. The light blue blouse is for The Real Air Force Academy, Black is for The Royal Naval Academy, Yellow is for Marines, the rest is Army. Also, the band are arranged in the color of Thailand's flag.

Slow march is executed at 60 beats a minute. There is not supposed to be any pause or "hang step" between each pace. It is meant to be a smooth unbroken movement right through. Having said that the slight pause is very hard to iron out, you do it almost automatically.

From Greek traditional dress the pompom on the footwear was apparently used to conceal a blade that was placed on the toe of the shoe and this blade was obviously employed as a kicking weapon . The slapping down of the nail studded shoes on the march is also done for a reason, it is to make a signal in sound to the ancient Greeks that Greece is still free.

Let’s back up here a bit. If this is the Army, they are NOT Drill Instructor’s. They are Drill Sergeant’s. The Marine Corps has Drill Instructor’s and I can tell you having, “been there done that,” when you graduate Boot Camp, the last thing you will look like are the clowns in this video. SEMPER FI!

Thanks so much again for reviewing this! 1. Yes, I believe smoke/powder is allowed in the Singaporean FSD, but I have not seen much of it in more recent performances 2. The cadets are using 2 sides coloured gloves, which are originally white gloves that have been painted. 3. Yes, it is required to use the British Marching Style in FSD as well as the Stomp at the end 4. The Colours are not very specific and a unit may choose whichever colours they wish for, although certain schools do go for the same colours every year. 5. The last part with the banner, I believe they had pulled out the wrong banner. During their District competitions, they pulled out a complete banner and marched out with it, swinging out the banner from behind as the front two sections moved back. 6. The banner is actually a banner that is commonly used in these competitions, and show the cadet strong framework that the NCC has adopted, which comprises of 3 values, committed heart, fit body and a resilient mind. Hi John! Based on my knowledge, some countries have their rifles carried on the left shoulder on default, which I think it's called "Slope Arms" for most of those countries!
